A fan-made “High School Musical 4” teaser trailer is capturing the hearts of Wildcats everywhere. The fake “Once a Wildcat: A High School Musical Story” trailer has been viewed millions of times and has left many wondering when the original cast will have a true reunion.
The fan made teaser trailer went viral after the unofficial “High School Musical 4” page shared it on Facebook. The video, which has been viewed more than 24 million times, uses clips from the actors’ other projects to illustrate what life may be like for the Wildcats since they graduated from East High.
It features Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman, whose characters are navigating life in bustling New York City. “A lot can happen over ten years,” the trailer declares as clips show the six friends navigating relationships, jobs and life in general.
The fan-made teaser trailer was originally uploaded to YouTube last month and, prior to appearing on Facebook, only accumulated 3,000 views, according to Seventeen magazine. Since going viral, the fabulous video now has nearly 150,000 views and counting. The video’s creator made it clear in the YouTube description that the teaser was not real and provided a little background on what the fan-favorite friends would be up to in 2017:
First and foremost, this is a fan made trailer. We’re living in a time of reboots and remakes and so I thought it would be fun to see what Troy and Gabriella have been doing these past ten years. Still wishing that one day, they all come back to do a reunion movie.
As East High’s alum prepare for their ten year reunion, they realize a decade of change isn’t always a good thing. Now in their late twenties, these former wildcats are living out their dreams, starting families, and for some, looking for a second chance at love. It’s a reunion like no other, as they try to find what they’ve been looking for all these years.
While there are currently no plans to reunite the original six Wildcats in a fourth film, Disney did announce in 2009 that “High School Musical 4” would be a Disney Channel Original Movie—introducing a whole new generation to impromptu jazz squares and lots of bopping to the top. Additionally, most of the cast reunited last year for a 10th-anniversary special.
