The holidays are upon us and beer drinkers are already grabbing their favorite winter beverage to bring out the holiday joy or escape the madness of it all. Samuel Adams Brewery has an incredible lineup for you to choose from this holiday season. There is something for all so choose wisely or choose them all. Here is a breakdown of some delicious beers from a wide selection at Samuel Adams.
What better beer this holiday than White Christmas, which is an unfiltered white ale. White Christmas has a unique and festive twist. You will notice as you enjoy this beer that it has a crisp wheat character that combines with warming holiday spices. Sip on this beer and tastes spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peel for a flavorful yet refreshing brew that is perfect for the joyful season.
Consider pairing White Christmas with a salad with dried cranberries, seared scallops and gorgonzola. When eating an entrée, enjoy the beer with duck, baked ham or risotto. Finally, throw back a White Christmas at dessert alongside pumpkin cheesecake, fruit tart or angel food cake.
Old Fezziwig Ale
Next up, is Old Fezziwig which is a spicy and bold festive ale. This festive ale bursts with the flavors of the merry season. Are the long winter nights making you feel less joyful? With a full body and spice, Old Fezziwig helps make those nights pass more quickly and joyful. It has a rich malt character that creates notes of sweet toffee, caramel and roasty chocolate. Finally, you will notice classic holiday spices like cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dancing on your tongue to bring you in the spirit.
Samuel Adams recommends pair Old Fezziwig Ale alongside sweet potatoes, butternut squash and cranberry sauce during appetizers. For your entrée, consider roasted Lamb, turkey or duck. At dessert, Old Fezziwig Ale goes along great with apple pie, spice cake, carrot cake or gingerbread.
Next for this season, you can choose Oatmeal Stout where the oats were first added to beer for practicality when barley was not readily available. Now, thanks to their rich protein and starch content, brewers like Samuel Adams are using oats to enhance the beer’s body and complexity. Additionally, brewers add a subtle sweetness. Just like a comforting holiday meal, Oatmeal Stout’s round, smooth body and rich, roasted notes of espresso and dark chocolate are just the right antidotes to winter’s harsher climates. Give yourself a holiday treat with an Oatmeal Stout.
Oatmeal Stout is recommended to be enjoyed with cheddar cheese, oysters and roasted nuts. This stout pairs well with chicken with mole sauce, roasted venison and roast beef on pumpernickel. Moving on to your dessert for the holiday meal, Samuel Adams suggests that you enjoy this stout with custard with fruit, cheesecake or pecan pie.
