America was built with the railroad. The railroad created a nationwide mechanized transportation network that revolutionized the population and economy of the American West. And, the primary drink to fuel the workers who laid down the rails that now expand this country was coffee. How would you like a taste of that time?
With that spirit, Phoebe Snow Co., produces micro-roasted coffee that are the actual blends used in the dining cars of America’s railroads during the golden age of railroad travel. Coffee is one of the most important items served.
Sometimes, it can make or break your day. A poor cup of coffee can be the ruination of an otherwise good meal Phoebe strives to offer unique products that help you experience a little bit of the classic American dining car. I had the pleasure to take myself back to that significant time in our nation’s history.
I enjoyed samples of Louisville & Nashville coffee along with Pullman and Milwaukee Road.

Check out my thoughts on the coffees below. Have you had any of these coffees from Phoebe? What is your favorite flavor from them? Let us know in the comments section.
Louisville & Nashville
A bit of history about the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. It provided traditional dining car service in true Southern style on trains like the Humming Bird and Pan-American.
With that history in mind, Louisville and Nashville coffee has a gentle molasses aroma. This blend was researched to match the great medium blend originally used in the dining cars of the L&N Railroad. It is a pretty cool thing to consider while drinking this delicious coffee.
The dining car experience is guaranteed for any coffee drinker because it is roasted with only the highest quality beans in small batches to ensure a great cup of coffee every time.
With regards to The Pullman Company, they provided traditional dining car service for a number of railroads that did not operate their own dining cars. So, this was truly the national blend.
Pullman coffee was researched to match its rich, full-bodied, smooth and subtly complex blend originally used by the Pullman Company. A delicious start to your morning.
Finally, the Milwaukee Road provided dining car service from Chicago to Milwaukee, St. Paul and on to the Pacific Northwest with its famous Hiawathas. The Milwaukee Road’s coffee has a chocolate, buttery, caramel like flavor. Something different that serves as a great treat to get you ready in the morning. This coffee pairs well with a good breakfast.
Overall, it was a great experience sharing coffee from Phoebe. Again, what did you think I got right and what do you think I said wrong? Let us know in the comments section.
