Naomi defeated Lana to retain her Women’s WWE heavyweight belt at Money in the Bank. Although Carmella had won the first ever women’s Money in the Bank, she did not cash it in following the bout.

At SmackDown LIVE’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Lana will make her blue brand in-ring debut when she challenges Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a match that was made following the turbulent events of the June 6 edition of SmackDown LIVE.

Angered over Commissioner Shane McMahon’s decision to deny her from entering the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, The Ravishing Russian suddenly attacked Naomi during the titleholder’s Six-Woman Tag Team Match. In response, Naomi’s glow turned red, and she demanded that Shane-O-Mac grant Lana a title match against her at the June 18 pay-per-view and promised to “snatch her bald.”
