Lucas Holliday Sings Aaron Neville’s ‘Tell It Like It Is’ But Fails In The Voice Knockouts

By Shawn Rice

Lucas Holliday performed a cover of “Tell It Like It Is” by Aaron Neville on The Voice. However, he lost the knockout round to Shi’ann Jones. Jennifer Hudson said that both were outstanding.

Adam Levine called Lucas a freak but that he loved freaks like himself. Adam said that you don’t expect him to do what he does. Miley Cyrus loved how Lucas’s voice goes through many different levels. Blake Shelton was surprised that Lucas went off the rails a bit.

What did you think of the performance on The Voice? Let us know in the comments section.

Lucas works as a cashier for a local convenience store. He is known as the singing cashier because he often sings soul songs as he checks out customers. Customers are often surprised that his look does not match his vocals. Last year, one of Lucas’ friends recorded him singing “Ascension” by Maxwell at work, and posted it on social media. By the end of the night, the video had 100,000 views and went viral with more than 1 million views in the first week. All of sudden, Lucas was invited to sing with Maxwell in front of a sold out crowd of 20,000 people. Unfortunately, Lucas’ time in the spotlight was short lived as he is back working at the convenience store. The Voice is his chance at a real career in music.
