Krysten Ritter Returns As Jessica Jones In New Teaser For Upcoming Season Two On Netflix

By Shawn Rice

Jessica Jones has now officially be given a return date on Netflix. It has been more than two years since the first season aired featuring the Marvel character on the streaming service. Netflix also released a teaser to go along with the airing date. The show returns March 8, 2018.

Netflix released this official logline for season two so begin guessing where the series will be going:

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.

In the teaser, fans see that Jessica is back to working as a private investigator, musing that people have their secrets, or at least someone else’s. It seems that there is still some surprises in her past: her friend Trish telling her that knowing what was done to her might be helpful. Jessica is not sold on the idea, asking “what if facing it makes me worse?” Along the way, there’s plenty of punching, drinking, and sarcasm.

When fans last saw Jessica, she had just teamed up with three other street-level heroes in Marvel’s The Defenders and saved New York City from destruction by the Hand. But that’s just “a blip” in Jessica’s story, Ritter told EW. Instead, season 2 will delve again into a “very personal” story for Jessica: “If season 1 was in her head and in her mind,” Ritter said, “then season 2 will be more in her heart.”

Fans do not know exactly what to expect from season two, although series creator Melissa Rosenberg revealed it would tap more into Jessica’s backstory, and the demons she had long before David Tennant’s sadistic Kilgrave came along.

“I just want to continue with Jessica’s character – she’s very damaged, and the damage goes beyond Kilgrave, so there’s a lot to mine from in her backstory and her present day situation.”

The series, created by Melissa Rosenberg, also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachael Taylor, and Eka Darville, with J.R. Ramirez and Janet McTeer joining the cast for season 2. Season 1 star David Tennant, who played Jessica’s tormenter Kilgrave, returns for at least one episode.
