Kirk Douglas dead four days before his 101st birthday is a celebrity death hoax. There is no truth to a report that the legendary actor had passed away ahead of his next birthday.
News reports have confirmed that actor Kirk Douglas died of natural causes late this afternoon, Los Angeles coroners office reported. This was just 4 days before he would have turned 101 years old.
Family released a statement saying he “went comfortably and was in no pain” and “lived a long and prosperous life that people only dream of.”
However, there is no truth to the above story, according to Hoax Alert. Of course, there has been no legitimate news coverage reporting that Douglas had died. Rather, the death hoax used an article mostly pulled together from the Wikipedia page of Douglas, with the occasional “is” replaced by a “was” to falsely suggest that Douglas had died.
No reliable news outlets have confirmed the “news”, not even two days after his supposed death on Dec. 5, 2017. Thus, Hoax Alert said it is safe to say this is fake news.
Just recently, Douglas met with Dame Judi Dench for the first time ahead of Dench receiving the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Nov. 30. Since the 100-year-old actor was unable to attend, he invited Dench to his Los Angeles home the day before the ceremony.
Here are some examples of people sharing the death hoax on social media.

Finally, it should be noted that ActionNews3 is a known fake news website that is part of a network of similar sites posting false stories. The Douglas hoax was just another false story that ActionNews3 published to confuse and mislead social media users.
