Kechi and Angelica Hale sung “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” before introducing Kelly Clarkson who joined them. Clarkson then performed “Love So Soft” on America’s Got Talent. Clarkson gave some advice to the both of them. She said it is all about getting on television. Clarkson noted that it is about getting yourself in front of an audience and agents and that they have done that already.
Kechi is a self-taught singer, born in Nigeria and now living in Pearland, Texas. She is influenced by her parents’ passion for music, and her love for singing was fostered in high school by singing for friends at events. She found her true voice after being involved in a plane crash in 2005 that took the lives of 107 out of 109 passengers. Throughout a difficult journey of recovery that included treatment for third-degree burns over much of her body, Kechi was sustained by her faith, family and music. She began performing at galas and fundraisers for burn trauma victims, family events and at her church, sharing what she loved with those she loved.
Hale is a young singer from Atlanta. At just two years old, Hale started singing along to songs on the radio, and began taking professional vocal lessons at the age of five. When she was four years old, Hale developed a severe bacterial pneumonia that nearly took her life, causing her to go septic and have multiple organ failures, including kidney failure and permanent scarring in her right lung.
She remained in kidney failure for more than a year, but in 2013 received a life-saving kidney transplant from her mother. Today Hale performs at events and fundraisers all around the country in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, which is the hospital that saved her life.
