Jon Snow’s true heritage was revealed in the last season finale of Game of Thrones. It is a reveal the show has been building to right from the first season, and now a new compilation video from Georgian YouTuber ‘TheGaroStudios’ has carefully organised and laid out the seven years of clues leading up to the truth in a new several minute and very well-edited montage.
Even if you are a true Game of Thrones fan having seen the series throughout, the clip helps remind you of several conversations and key moments that may have seemed innocent or even forgettable at the time which now take on a new meaning. Check it out below.
The name Aegon isn’t unique on the Targaryen family tree, with the history behind it stretching back 300 years to Aegon I Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros. Also known as Aegon the Conqueror, Aegon I became the first king to sit on the Iron Throne after unifying the Seven Kingdoms under his rule.
But the choice had more significance for Jon’s parents, as it was the name of Rhaegar’s only son with his first wife, Elia Martell, as well. Shortly before Jon’s birth, that Aegon was murdered alongside his mother and sister by Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane during the Sack of King’s Landing. This occurred near the end or Robert’s Rebellion after Rhaeger himself had been killed at the Battle of the Trident.
The final season of “Game of Thrones” begins production later this year.
George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” is brought to the screen as HBO sinks its considerable storytelling teeth into the medieval fantasy epic. It’s the depiction of two powerful families — kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars and honest men — playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, and to sit atop the Iron Throne. Martin is credited as a co-executive producer and one of the writers for the series, which was filmed in Northern Ireland and Malta.
