Armie Hammer trolled some Green Lantern fans but now has stepped back from the online talk of his playing the DC superhero. Green Lantern is a name that has been used by many characters in the DC Universe, and two distinct franchises. The original during the Golden Age was businessman Alan Scott, who wore a magic power ring that created energy constructs and had to be charged using his mystic lantern. “Green Lantern” was reimagined in the Silver Age as test pilot Hal Jordan, a member of an intergalactic peacekeeping force called the Green Lantern Corps.
At the “Free Fire” junket, Hammer admitted to Collider that all the chatter on social media has been just that and absolutely nothing more.
“It was fun [trolling] for a while and now I’m convinced that everyone’s gonna turn on me so I’m like ‘Oh s–t, slowly backing away’…I have nothing to confirm nor deny. The only talk of me being Green Lantern that I have heard in my life has only come from social media.”
DC and Warner Bros. have had some ambitious plans for their shared cinematic universe featuring the comic book publisher’s characters. While only three movies have hit theaters to date, Wonder Woman and Justice League will make it five by year’s end. And if things do not get pushed back again, Aquaman will be coming in 2018. Green Lantern Corps was announced a few years back as the final piece of the initial DC extended universe plans.
Here were some reactions on social media to people thinking Hammer would be Green Lantern.

I doubt Armie Hammer is playing Green Lantern. He’s probably just trolling because he knows fans would eat it up.

Ryan Reynolds attempted to take Green Lantern off the ground but failed to do so. In that film, sworn to preserve intergalactic order, the Green Lantern Corps has existed for centuries. Its newest recruit, Hal Jordan (Reynolds), is the first human to join the ranks. The Green Lanterns have little regard for humans, who have thus far been unable to harness the powers of the ring each member wears. But Jordan, a gifted and cocky Go to the full article.
