Google’s Gary Illyes to Keynote Pubcon Las Vegas 2017

By Brett Tabke

You haven’t heard a Pubcon Keynote until you’ve heard one from Google’s House Elf and Chief of Sunshine and Happiness, Gary Illyes. We are very excited to have Gary back for Pubcon Las Vegas 2017 as a keynote speaker and Google representative.

Gary is a Webmaster Trends Analyst for Google. He describes his job in pretty simple terms (“helping webmasters create amazing websites”), although when he talks about his job he reveals that it is a teeny bit more complicated than that. Gary is on top of all of the latest developments at Google Search and he knows (but will never tell) exactly what is in the secret sauce of the algorithm. He knows Google Search’s products and services and his job is to help webmasters with questions and problems (and you’ll never find a webmaster worse his or her salt who doesn’t have at least a few questions or problems).

Gary contributes to the Webmaster Central Blog, participates in Google Webmaster Forums, and has an active Twitter feed with over 20,000 followers. He is an outspoken (and sometimes quite blunt) spokesman for Google and gives a hint at his personality in his Twitter bio (the aforementioned ‘House Elf and Chief of Sunshine and Happiness’). Ask him good questions and you’ll get good answers. Ask him obnoxious questions and … well, you’ll get some answers there, too.

Although some people refer to him as one of the members of the team that replaced Matt Cutts, we know (and you’ll learn, once you see him speak) that Gary is definitely his own guy and nobody’s replacement. Come to his keynote awake and ready, because the information he’ll be throwing to our attendees will be quite fascinating.

When he’s not crunching data or helping webmasters he can often be found jumping out of perfectly good airplanes.
