Donald Trump Being Called ‘Liar in Chief’ On Time Cover With Vladimir Putin Is A Fake Image

By Shawn Rice

President Donald Trump being seen in an image on the cover of Time Magazine with the headline “Liar in Chief” is fake. While the image shows a real Time Magazine cover featuring a picture of Trump, it falsely added the words “Liar in Chief” to create a fake image.

The image showing a purported Time magazine cover featuring a picture of Trump, an ominous background image of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the words “Liar in Chief” spread on Twitter in June 2017.

However, this is not a real Time cover. Rather, it was not promoted on any of Time’s social media sites and does not appear in the publication’s online archive of magazine covers.

Here are some examples of people sharing the fake image on social media.

A spokesperson for the publication confirmed to Snopes that Time Magazine did not publish the “Liar in Chief” cover. The magazine’s actual cover at the time of this writing features the headline “The Swamp Hotel” which can be seen below.
