President Donald Trump is being asked to release his taxes as demonstrators and those on social media are demanding it in #TaxMarch. The premise of the Tax March is simple as demonstrators are asking the president to follow through with his promise. Shortly after the inauguration, Kellyanne Conway said that Trump would not release his tax returns because “people don’t care.” Saturday’s march is meant to prove her wrong.
The demonstrations will take place in almost every major city in the country, from New York City to Yuma, Ariz., plus five marches in other countries. The main Tax March will be in Washington, D.C. In Washington, a march from the Capitol to the Washington Monument, opposite the White House, will kick off with a rally on Capitol Hill featuring members of Congress. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Reps. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Jamie Raskin, D-Md., are scheduled to speak in Washington. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., is speaking in Chicago. Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., will speak in Los Angeles.
Here are some reactions on social media to the hashtag #TaxMarch. Do you think Trump should release his taxes? Let us know in the comments section.
