Dancing with the Stars: Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas Dance Redemption-Style Quickstep to ‘Barflies at the Beach’

By Erica Abbott

Closing out the first round are Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas, dancing a redemption-style quickstep to “Barflies at the Beach” by Royal Crown Revue. The duo initially performed a quickstep during “Ballroom Night” in week two, earning 21 out of 30 points. Guest judge Julianne Hough challenged Stirling to put more power into her posture and movements.

Julianne Hough praises Stirling’s posture, while Bruno Tonioli calls it the Bonnie and Clyde of quicksteps, adding that it was very elegant. Carrie Ann Inaba calls the dance “vastly improved” and commends her improvement throughout the season. She calls her “most improved.” Len Goodman praises the hold and flair of the dance, adding that it was “awesome.” They score a 40 out of 40.

Welcome to the first night of the season 25 finale! The four finalists will be performing two dances on Monday—a Charleston, foxtrot, quickstep or paso doble for their redemption-style dance in round one and the fan-favorite freestyles in round two. Former pro Julianne Hough joins the judging panel tonight. One couple will be eliminated at the end of the night. On Tuesday, the three remaining finalists will repeat their favorite dance from the season and perform in the 24-Hour Fusion Challenge, which combines two contrasting dance styles. Drew Scott and Emma Slater are currently at the bottom of the leaderboard with 48 out of 60 points. At the top of the leaderboard are Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold, who earned a perfect score for their Iconic Dance jive during the semi-finals last week.

According to ABC, Stirling “is one of the biggest artist development breakthrough stories in recent years. An acclaimed violinist from Gilbert, AZ., she entered a futurist world of electronic big beats and animation, using her classical violin training, to leap through the music industry with almost 10 million YouTube subscribers, over 1.9 billion views on her YouTube channel, two Billboard Music Awards, Billboard chart-topping hits and sold out tours worldwide. She’s created a new music world where modern classical meets the infectious energy of dance and electronica.”
