Dancing with the Stars: Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson Dance Dramatic, ‘Powerful’ Freestyle for Finals
By Erica Abbott
Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson dance next, performing their freestyle to “Run Boy Run” by Woodkid. Their freestyle is inspired by Muniz’s strength and progress this season. Carson ultimately chose to do a powerful dance, despite the producers questioning whether it should be more fun and upbeat.
Guest judge Julianne Hough praises their partnership and the fact that they took a huge risk with their freestyle. Bruno Tonioli says it was “awesome, moody and menacing,” adding that the risk-taking and creativity really paid off. Carrie Ann Inaba likes that they choose the powerful freestyle since it highlighted Muniz’s emotional journey. Len Goodman calls it “unexpected” but praises the attack and spirit. They score a 38 out of 40.
Welcome to the first night of the season 25 finale! The four finalists will be performing two dances on Monday—a Charleston, foxtrot, quickstep or paso doble for their redemption-style dance in round one and the fan-favorite freestyles in round two. Former pro Julianne Hough joins the judging panel tonight. One couple will be eliminated at the end of the night. On Tuesday, the three remaining finalists will repeat their favorite dance from the season and perform in the 24-Hour Fusion Challenge, which combines two contrasting dance styles. Drew Scott and Emma Slater are currently at the bottom of the leaderboard with 48 out of 60 points. At the top of the leaderboard are Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold, who earned a perfect score for their Iconic Dance jive during the semi-finals last week.
