Christian Guardino performed Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” on America’s Got Talent to a standing ovation. Howie Mandel said that Christian is going on. Howie said that this is the exact opposite of a mistake because America needs him to be here. He called Christian inspirational.
Mel B said that is how you kill it on America’s Got Talent. Mel B said that she felt every emotion and that Christian did everything with that performance. Heidi Klum loved the song choice. Heidi loved his voice and his story and would love to see him in the finals.
Simon Cowell called him a sweet and nice young man. Simon said the performance was fantastic.
Guardino is a 17-year-old from Long Island, New York, and received Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer this season. He won the 2014 Grand Prize at the Apollo Theater’s “Amateur Night at the Apollo: Stars of Tomorrow.” He has since returned many times as a guest performer and also performed at the New York Stock Exchange Opening Bell and sang the national anthem at a New York Islanders playoff game.
In November, he had the honor of performing for Michelle Obama’s Fit 2 Celebrate Gala in Washington D.C., where he sang a duet with Jordin Sparks. Guardino also appeared on “Showtime at the Apollo.” Guardino’s story was featured in a recent edition of National Geographic, which explained how he overcame blindness.
