Nine-year-old Celine Tam nailed her America’s Got Talent audition with her rendition of her idol Céline Dion‘s 1997 hit and Titanic ballad, “My Heart Will Go On.” Tam’s full name is Celine Tam Tsz-kwan and she hails from Canada. Her parents are actually such big fans of Celine Dion that they named her Celine and her little sister Dionne.
“When I was in the car, my dad was driving and suddenly I just sang ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and he was like, ‘Wow!’ ” the young girl told judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B. “It’s my dream to be on America’s Got Talent.“
After years of training by her father, Steve, who is a vocal coach, Tam went on to win trophies and competitions for her singing. She even signed a contract with entertainment label GME China in 2015.
Simon does rib the kid a bit — and his fellow judge, Mel B. — but she’s not shaken. Instead, she handles the whole thing like a pro. Even prickly Cowell can’t help but grin from ear to ear during Tam’s performance.
The epic performance earns a standing ovation. Not only from the audience, but judges Mel B. and Howie Mandell also rise to their feet to congratulate the talented youngster on her show-stopping rendering of the song
