Daredevil Bello Nock wears traditional clown makeup which includes his hair spiked up to a foot-tall) but he’s no ordinary clown. He’s known as the World’s Greatest Daredevil who’s been in the Guinness Book of World Records for his 2013 high wire feat which involved him walking across the entire length of a cruise ship at sea.
Born Demetrius Nock, Bello comes from a long line of circus performers. He started performing when he was 3. And when he was 6, he played Michael in the touring version of Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby. He went on to join New York’s Big Apple Circus and then made the leap to Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus as their headliner.
In 2001, Nock joined Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus as their headliner. Bello completed four tours with Ringling Bros, the last being Bellobration. Nock was the first person in Ringling’s 140-year history to have a production named after him.
While Nock won over most of the judges, Simon Cowell was not as impressed and voted no. In an effort to change his mind, the daredevil made a bold promise to make his next stunt even crazier by getting shot out of a cannon over a helicopter. The possibility seemed to impress Cowell, and he ended up switching his vote to a yes, sending him to the next round.
